Nothing soothes the soul like a rich glass of Merlot on a cold winter's night. For this reason, I chose Merlot to share with you my story... The dark blue color of the Merlot grape reminds me of the color of sky on a cold winter’s night. Merlot is typically known for its dark, rich, full bodied red berry flavors, which is universally soft, smooth and easy to enjoy. The merlot grape, identified by its loose bunches of large berries, and referred to as noble and friendly, much like myself, is an early ripening grape and has always been able to thrive in cooler climates. The aromas and flavors are quite pleasing to the palate as you may taste fruity berries, plum or currant touches and sometimes cedar, oak, or tea leaf hints.
I love to share fine Merlots with beef and lamb dishes among friends. It is also a wonderful nightcap all on its own after a long day of delivering gifts and surprising children. |

The Riesling grape is a very aromatic grape variety producing a sweet white wine that displays a flowery, almost perfumed, aroma. It can contain flavors of apple, peach, pear, melon or citrus with a bit of high acidity. It is a wonderful wine because of its balance of sugar and acidity reflecting the bitter sweet moments of life on earth. A Riesling Wine can be paired with white fish and pork dishes, as well as a balance of taste to food with a high salt content. Please join me as I bring to you the finest Rieslings from my journeys around the world... And be sure to enjoy with dear friends. |

As I mentioned on my label, I chose a (pink) Rose wine to represent the bouquet of roses I gave to Juan Diego which spilled from his tilma as he presented my image to the bishop. |

To represent the short time I spent here on earth, I chose Chardonnay to tell my story as I feel it reflects the strength that women bring to the world as well as the sweetness. |

I chose (Red )Zinfandel wines to tell my story because of the strength of its dark red color and flavors that are bold and spicy yet smooth in taste. It commands a reaction to its flavor as I commanded the army of angels.

Pinot Noir wine seemed a fine fit to tell my story... The cherry red color of a Pinot Noir wine is the color of the human heart, symbolic of love and friendship. Being a grape that requires much love and referred to by some as the most romantic of wines, Pinot Noir seemed a natural fit to relay the story of my feast day. A delicate, silky, lighter red wine, Pinot Noir is full bodied and rich, but not heavy. Despite its delicacy, it has substantial flavor, and its aroma, often one of the most complex of all wines, can be intense with a ripe-grape or black cherry aroma. It is frequently accented by a pronounced spiciness, suggesting cinnamon, sassafras, or mint. Pinot Noir wines are best paired with foods that are simple and rich such as a good cut of roast beef. For those of you who enjoy duck and goose dishes, like myself, you will find a fine complement a Pinot Noir's slightly dry fruity taste. Please join me on my journey and enjoy St. Valentine's Pinot Noir wines with the ones you love. - St. Valentine |

As I mentioned on my label, I chose Pinot Grigio wine to tell my story because it is as crisp and refreshing as the gospel of Jesus Christ that I preached to convert all of Ireland. Like the simple shamrock which describes the complex mystery of The Holy Trinity, Pinot Grigios can be a simple, cool, refreshing drink on a hot summer evening. The Pinot Grigio grape is thin-skinned, producing a white wine characterized by its dryness, acidity and crispness, the combination resulting in a great mouthwatering appeal. It often tastes of honey, pear or lemon, with subtle aromas of flowers. It pairs well with light dishes that are still on the "thick" side, such as chicken in a rich white sauce or my favorite - a spicy corned beef and cabbage dinner. Pinot Grigio is also a great complement to the complex tastes found in rich seafoods and desserts. Please join me in my journey to find wonderful Pinot Grigios from around the world... and be sure to raise a glass in a toast among friends! - St. Patrick |
